Learn to harvest, roll, oxidize, ferment, and dry fireweed leaves for a nourishing and delicious caffeine-free tea for the coming cold months. Known in Russia as Kapoor Tea or Ivan Chai, fireweed tea is reportedly the original fermented black tea, made from the leaves of Chamaenerion augustifolium. Some reported health benefits include: normalized blood pressure, balanced digestion, improvement in energy levels, concentration, mood, immunity, and circulation, detoxification, relieving migraines and tension headaches, and relaxation. Pharmacological studies have shown fireweed to be effective treatment and prevention of prostrate cancer and PCOS. We will also sample the cured tea and participants will take home harvested leaves to continue the curing process.
