FIREWEED EARTH ARTS: AN EARTH-INSPIRED ARTS, EDUCATION, and WELLNESS CENTRE
We are a rustic land/art sanctuary and forest garden farm on the magical isle of Cape Breton / Unama'ki Nova Scotia, Canada, minutes from the sunset coast. Our beautiful 50+ acres of recovering / regenerating forest and farm land provides rich opportunities to artistically engage with the plant and animal worlds. Here we listen, observe, learn from, and co-create with the natural world. We operate primarily on a donation basis, welcoming guests for workshops, guided and personal retreats, inter-generational celebrations and learnings, ecological arts apprenticeships, coaching/teaching, performances, artist-in-residencies, and land-based journeys of renewal and wholeness. Our offerings are queer-affirming and explore and thrive at the intersections of human and non-human arts. Our artist residencies, offered on a donation and/or work exchange basis, are an invitation to create through the experience of being in right relationship with wild things and our wild selves. At the culmination of their tenure, resident artists share with the community a work (or work in progress) created at the sanctuary. In all our work and play, our passion is in creating sustainable, creative, and loving relationships with the land, one another, and ourselves.
